Learn
A card for every point on the ceph and every measurement built from them — what it is, how it is found, how far a beginner usually is, and what it changes when you get it wrong.
The twenty-six points
Every point the game ever asks you to place. The millimeters beside each one are its decay length — how quickly the score falls away as you miss it, which is this atlas’ own measure of how hard the point is.
Cranial base4 points
The reference frame everything else is measured against.
Maxilla3 points
The upper jaw, and where its front sits.
Mandible7 points
The lower jaw, from the condyle to the chin.
Dentition6 points
The incisors and the molars that carry the bite.
Soft tissue6 points
The profile: nose, lips and the pad over the chin.
The measurements
Each one opens on a reviewed ceph with its construction drawn and nothing else — the isolation view. Grouped by the analysis that made it famous; a row that belongs to three analyses is listed under the first.
Steiner12 measurements
SNA/SNB/ANB, incisor position to NA/NB, soft-chin balance — the orthodontic workhorse.
Ricketts5 measurements
Facial pattern + denture to the A-Pog line; the computable core of the Ricketts battery.
Tweed3 measurements
The diagnostic triangle (FMA / FMIA / IMPA) — lower-incisor positioning & facial form.
Downs8 measurements
Frankfort-referenced skeletal pattern + denture relations; classic growth-direction read.
McNamara5 measurements
Nasion-perpendicular jaw positions + effective lengths & their differential (age-dependent norms).
Björk–Jarabak11 measurements
Cranial-base / mandibular polygon: saddle·articular·gonial angles, their sum, and the posterior:anterior face-height ratio (growth direction). Linear norms are adult (age-dependent).
- Saddle angle (N-S-Ar)
- Articular angle (S-Ar-Go)
- Gonial angle (Ar-Go-Gn) — Jarabak
- Björk's sum of angles
- Upper gonial angle (Ar-Go-N)
- Lower gonial angle (N-Go-Gn)
- Anterior cranial base (N–S) — Jarabak
- Posterior cranial base (S–Ar) — Jarabak
- Ramus height (Ar–Go)
- Mandibular body length (Go–Gn)
- Posterior:anterior face height ratio (S-Go : N-Me)
Soft tissue6 measurements
Profile esthetics — nasolabial angle, Holdaway H-angle & convexity, Ricketts E-line lip positions.
Everything else7 measurements
Rows the report computes that no one analysis is named for.
The reference ceph these pages draw on is one reviewed cephalogram, the same one on every page in Learn, chosen because the junior and senior tracings on it agree more closely than on any other ceph in the set. Nothing on this page is scored.
