Placed short of the apex
The lower root is more often obscured than the upper one, and stopping early shortens the axis and flattens IMPA.
Point · L1A
The root apex of the same lower central incisor.
At Beginner a placement counts as found within 3.5 mm of the reviewed reading.
How to find it
Press a step to be shown it on the ceph.
Each figure is the reviewed reading of Lower incisor apex and a typical miss, on the same ceph, at the distance the mistake usually goes.

The lower root is more often obscured than the upper one, and stopping early shortens the axis and flattens IMPA.
Placed on the cortical plate beside the root
A cortical plate runs parallel to the root and reads brighter than the root does. Here it is the lingual plate, a couple of millimeters behind the apex; on a proclined lower incisor it is the labial one in front.
9 measurements are built on it. Miss it, and every one of them moves.
