Unit 7 of 7
Reading a case
All twenty-six, in order, and the sentence they add up to.
The card
A tracing is not twenty-six separate answers; it is one reading, and the last unit is about the order you make it in. Skeleton first — sagittal, then vertical — then the teeth, then the profile, and only then a sentence.
- ANB names the class, but a rotated cranial base can flatter it, which is what the Wits appraisal exists to catch.
- FMA names the growth pattern, and it decides how much bite-opening the case will tolerate.
- The incisors are read as compensation: how far have the teeth already gone to hide the skeleton.
- The profile is what the patient came for. It is read last and weighted first.
