What Sella conforms to, what it does not, and how to tell us when it gets in your way.

The target
Sella aims at WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Every public page is checked against the automated part of that standard on every build, at a desktop width and a phone width, and a serious or critical finding fails the build rather than filing a ticket.
Automated checks catch perhaps a third of what the standard asks for. The rest of this page is about the other two thirds.
What works
- Every control is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, and the focused one is visibly ringed.
- A placement can be made without a mouse: the ceph is a focusable widget, the arrow keys move the point, and Enter confirms it. Settings has a nudge D-pad that puts the same adjustment on screen as buttons.
- Text meets the contrast minimum against its background, in both the light and dark appearance the page takes from your system.
- Animation follows your system’s reduce-motion setting, and Settings can force it on regardless.
- Every ceph carries a description of what is being asked of it rather than an empty alt attribute, and every icon-only button has a name.
- The page is laid out in landmarks, and headings run in order.
What does not conform
Placing an anatomical point on a radiograph by eye is a visual task and Sella has no non-visual equivalent of it. Drill, Sprint, Trace, the Daily and the Course all rest on that task, so a person who cannot see the ceph cannot complete them, and no amount of markup changes that. Saying otherwise would be worse than saying nothing.
Name It and the Case interpretation questions ask a different kind of question — they are about what a measurement means — and those are usable with a screen reader.
Two more, stated plainly: the reveal communicates a distance with a colored vector as well as a number, and while the number is always there and always reads, the picture is doing work that the number alone does not. And the millimeter readouts are set in a mono face at a small size in places; they scale with your browser’s text size, but they start small.
If something is in your way
Write to hello@playsella.com and say what you were trying to do and what happened. It is a small product and a real mailbox; a report about a control you could not reach will be read by the person who can move it.
What Sella keeps about you is on Privacy.
